SOTERION
YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE THROUGH SALVATION CHURCHES IN AFRICA
The name of this wonderful ministry is Soterion (ΣΩΤΕΡΙΩΝ). It means Salvation in Greek. This work began nearly 10 years ago through the vision of a few Brazilian missionaries. The churches planted by this outreach are called "Salvation Churches." The ministry provides funds to cover school fees for young children who are unable to attend without assistance. It helps feed hundreds of families, and most importantly, it spreads the good news of Christ through teaching and acts of kindness. We are located near Kampala, the capital city, but have established churches and other programs in four other parts of Uganda, Africa.

SOME OF THE THINGS WE DO...
Every Tuesday, we minister in stone quarries and give out bread and water, we pray for people, do home visits, and street evangelism. In the beginning, this ministry was more evangelism focused, but now that people have come to Christ, it has transitioned to being more discipleship focused. Every Wednesday we visit the Namuwongo community where we do adult and children's Bible studies. We take bread to share with them. Recently, we added a soccer program. We start with the Bible study and invite the children to stay for soccer. On Thursdays, we do evangelism and home visits around the church and afterwords, we have prayer and Bible Study at church. Saturdays, we have discipleship class and worship practice, and Sunday is church. Discipleship class is a 14-week training program that covers everything from salvation to end times. It is required for those who want to serve on ministry trips or in the church. We keep food at church for emergencies, for families in need. We also help with paying medical bills, rent, and other situations on a case-by-case basis as the Lord leads. Also, we give out Bibles. Uganda is a diverse country with more than 46 languages, and they have Bibles for about half of those languages. We currently give out Bibles in about 5 different languages. Most people here do not own their own Bible. This is a huge area of need. In addition, at our church in Namulanda, we provide a weekly breakfast for about 50 children every Sunday. Also, we provide food packs for 9 families twice monthly who are not able to work and are dealing with various challenges.
About a year and a half ago, we planted a church near Kampala. Before this, we were taking 2 vans of people every week to our church in Namulanda, but felt led to have a church on this side that we can direct people to during our midweek ministry. We have 3 other church plants under us, that we are mentoring: The church at Jinja is 2 hours away, Moroto is 8 hours away, and BMale is our newest church plant, is 5 hours away. We send teams monthly to encourage and mentor the other church plants. On the monthly visits we administer communion, do water baptisms, and encourage the church. We are a mission focused church. We preach the gospel in various villages around Uganda as the Lord leads as there are many who need Jesus.
